Beads in park

I love jewellery that’s big, beautiful, chunky, bold and unusual. Jewellery that’s a wearable piece of art. Jewellery that catches the light, encouraging the colours to change and dance. Jewellery that you want to hold and turn in your fingers. Jewellery that makes you gasp at its audacity, its simplicity, its sheer beauty.

I started this website when my favourite chunky jewellery shop closed, I looked online and could find very little I liked in a forest of dainty necklaces, wispy ear-rings and delicate bracelets. Since then I’ve looked, and continue to look, at so much jewellery, just occasionally finding the piece that makes me gasp and that I want to share.

The site works because of what’s called affiliate marketing. If you follow the link and then decide to buy something from that supplier within the next month say, I’m paid a small commission – a bit like paying someone to be a personal shopper – I trawl the sites so you don’t have to. That doesn’t apply to the handmade jewellery you buy direct from the jewellery maker, that I just write about because I like it and I’m amazed by the talent some people possess.

I’ve had dilemmas, writing this site, as to whether I’m just encouraging readers to buy more, to accumulate and hoard more when we all have more than enough stuff already. Still, as grown ups, you can decide that yourself. A piece of jewellery won’t change your life  but as Keats said “A thing of beauty is a joy forever” – an outer reflection of the deep joy we can all find inside ourselves when the world falls away.

I hope you enjoy reading the site and if you’ve a genuine comment I’d love to hear from you.
